  • Inventorying local biodiversity with bees

    Scientific monitoring of the environment in proximity to SILAB to adapt our nature conservation actions.

     

    • Three-year partnership (2022-2024) with the specialized company BeeOdiversity 
    • Installation of 2 hives on SILAB site to collect and analyze pollen in a radius of 1.5 km each season 
    • Implementation of actions targeted on local plant biodiversity based on species identified

  • Organizing a local movement to reduce waste

    Organization of a World Cleanup Day in SILAB’s geographic area.

     

    • 70 participants (SILAB employees and teams of other companies in the area) 
    • 90 kg of waste collected around the site in 2025, sorted and recycled by certified companies

  • Mobilizing our international subsidiaries for local conservation

    Expansion of our eco-citizen values globally by an active involvement of our overseas teams.  

     

    In 2025: 

    • Awareness campaigns by an educational session led by experts and field action by SILAB Inc.(United States subsidiary): 500 dune plants transplanted and 160 kg of waste collected 
    • Collection of waste in proximity organized by employees of SILAB China on World Earth Day 
    • Involvement of SILAB North East Asia employees (Japanese subsidiary) in the global World Cleanup Day movement

  • Reinforcing bonds with universities

    Involvement with the University of Limoges. 

     

    • Beneficial use of the expertise of our executives to support strategic orientations of the local university 
    • In 2025 Brigitte Closs-Gonthier, President of the Management Board, was elected to the University Board of Directors as a representative of a company with less than 500 employees

    Regular actions to have youth discover our profession.

    • 9 participations and meetings 
    • 6 visits of Saint-Viance site organized so that students can learn about infrastructures and research 
    • 11 interns in university studies, 12 work-study programs and 31 interns in secondary schools received and trained by our expert tutors

  • Sharing our regulatory expertise

    Ingrecos (French trade association dedicated to cosmetic ingredients) federation has recognized SILAB legitimacy and expertise by its peers. 

     

    • Named as technical expert by the AFNOR and ISO for standard ISO 16128 
    • Leader of the AFNOR working group (GT4 Terminology) since June 2021  
    • Delphine Creel, SILAB Regulatory and Industrial Properties Manager has several roles: administrator of the BT CARE* specialized technical group, representative of the EFfCI (European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients) and of the Naturality Representation working group at the AFNOR and ISO

  • Participating in reforestation of the region

    Implementation of two reforestation projects certified low carbon. 

     

    • Co-financing two reforestation projects in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region  
    • Projects prepared in the framework of sustainable forest management in partnership with the CNPF (French national center of forest ownership) 
    • Surface: more than 4 hectares  
    • Potential benefits for climate: more than 800 tCO2 over 30 years

  • Restorating of wetlands

    Preservation of head water streams 60 km from the zone of activity. 

     

    • Association with the “CDC Biodiversité” (French Deposit and consignment office) the Nature 2050 program framework that aims to adapt territories to climate change by 2050 
    • SILAB financed preservation of a biodiversity surface equivalent to that of its Saint-Viance site between 2016 and 2020, i.e., 7,000 m².
