Raising awareness of environmental issues

Published on 9/9/2025

At SILAB, concrete awareness-raising initiatives are regularly organized to involve employees in an eco-responsible approach.

Thematic campaigns

Water management, waste reduction, energy consumption, digital pollution, etc. Employees are regularly invited to participate in awareness-raising campaigns.

These can take a variety of forms, including exhibitions, interactive quizzes, awaste collection drives, and more. The goal is to change practices and strengthen environmental awareness.

Since 2021, 17 awareness-raising events on environmental issues have been offered to employees.

Review of some awareness campaigns:

World cleanup day

For several years now, SILAB teams have been actively participating in World cleanup day, a global citizen cleanup movement.

In 2025, along the roads surrounding the business park, employees collected 90 kg of waste in just one hour. Plastics, paper, metal, cigarette butts... all waste is sorted and recycled through approved channels.

A great demonstration of collective commitment!

Digital Cleanup Day

In 2024, awareness-raising initiatives related to digital pollution issues were proposed, including collective challenges such as sorting email inboxes and files.

World Water Day

In 2023, on World Water Day, SILAB hosted an educational exhibition offered by the Adour-Garonne Water Agency, entitled: “The main water issues to be taken into account in urban planning and regional development policies.”

Open for several days, this exhibition enabled employees to better understand the challenges related to water resources and their key role in environmental balance.

The following year, the focus was on water quality: an exhibition on the different qualities of water at SILAB, but also on international health scandals related to this issue.

European Week for Waste Reduction

On this special occasion, awareness campaigns are regularly conducted, such as clothing or old cell phone collections, quizzes, exhibitions, etc.

A strong commitment from subsidiaries

Employees at subsidiaries are also taking action to protect the environment at their own level.

SILAB Inc. in action: coastal cohesion and preservation

The teams at SILAB Inc., a subsidiary located in the United States, participated in an initiative in partnership with Save Coastal Wildlife, an organization dedicated to protecting the fragile ecosystems of the Jersey Shore. After an outdoor educational session led by local experts, the team got to work: 500 dune plants were transplanted to restore and stabilize the coastal dunes, and 160 kg of waste was collected.

Tools to help you develop the right habits

In order to extend awareness beyond one-off events, several internal resources are available:

  • The Environment welcome module: integrated into the newcomer training program, it presents SILAB's commitments and expectations in terms of sustainable behavior.
  • The eco-friendly guide: to learn the right habits to adopt (water, energy, paper, waste, travel, etc.).
  • The waste sorting guide: to understand the sorting channels available on site and ensure responsible collective management of industrial waste.
  • The environmental media library: a space where employees can consult and borrow books on protecting the planet, freely accessible to all employees.
