“Since 2007 and every year since, the mission of our Foundation has been to finance research projects in the area of skin diseases, in particular cancer. Beyond the financial investment, it is above all the human commitment of an entire team. Doctors, researchers, university professors, they all stand alongside us to advance medical research.”
Jean Paufique, Founder of SILAB
Support medical research
The SILAB - Jean PAUFIQUE Corporate Foundation provides annual support for medical research, renewable for up to three years.
Regardless of the scientific discipline, this sum supports young doctoral students or post-doctoral researchers having obtained their PhD less than 5 years beforehand.
Their research is required to have a potential application in the diagnosis, prognosis, or treatment of inflammatory cutaneous pathologies, in particular skin cancer.
The 17th annual meeting of the Foundation
As every year, SILAB organized a day dedicated to the Corporate Foundation on Tuesday July 1st, 2025.
It was a great opportunity to discover the research project of the Foundation's new laureate: Alicia Defay-Stinat from the Rare Diseases, Genetics, and Metabolism Laboratory, INSERM U1211, at the University of Bordeaux. She is working on a project entitled “Identification and characterization of the regulatory elements of albinism genes (ICARE)”, under the direction of Professor Benoît Arveiler.
This 17th edition, orchestrated by Brigitte Closs-Gonthier, Director and Scientific Director of the Corporate Foundation, brought together members of the scientific council, the board of directors, former prizewinners and SILAB employees, to discuss the latest innovations in biomedical research.
She also gave the floor to Mélissa Chapeau et Emilie Chessel, 2024 and 2023 prizewinners respectively, who shared the scientific advances of their work.
The scientific event concluded with a cocktail reception, where prizewinners, Foundation members and SILAB staff enjoyed a convivial exchange of views.

“Young researcher” poster prize
Every year, the SILAB - Jean PAUFIQUE Corporate Foundation supports a young deserving group involved in the study of therapies of skin diseases by awarding a “Young researcher” poster prize at the Journées du Cancéropôle Grand Sud-Ouest (Greater Southwest cancer research days).
For the 20th edition, Rémi PEANNE was selected for his poster entitled “Cells derived from primary cutaneous diffuse large B cell lymphoma-leg type polarize macrophages towards an immunosuppressive phenotype which in turn induce tumor cell survival”.
